Usually I am fastidious in clearing out my email account’s spam folder because keeping it around for no purpose is like keeping around junk mail that comes from the post office. It’s cluttering, distracting and of no use to me. But in a little experiment for the fun of it, I decided to keep every piece of junk email that gets sorted into the spam folder for the full 30-days it takes Gmail to automatically delete the messages. I started the experiment on January 24, and since then I’ve procured 426 spam messages in approximately 20 days.
There’s no real scientific relevance to this experiment, but it’s the kind of experiment I like to do: the one where I don’t have to do anything. Maybe I should tally how many are for male enhancement, how many are for erectile dysfunction and how many are miscellaneous. I do get an awful lot of spam messages about Rolex watches.

I never dump mine anymore, and I’m sitting at 1525. It’s been as high as 2100+ before.
